Mason has been soooo interested in food lately. I really wanted to breastfeed exclusively the first 6 months, but I can't put anything in my mouth without him staring like its the most amazing thing he's ever seen. So I decided to let him start a little early.
I had been thinking about making my own baby food for a while now. Its so much cheaper, and it didn't seem like it would be all that difficult. I also like knowing exactly what he's eating, because with my food allergies (avocado, tomato, watermelon), I want to be extra careful about what he eats. So I decided to start with sweet potatoes. I also made carrots, green beans, and butternut squash. All together, I've got about a month's worth of food. Maybe two. I cheated a little on the green beans, and used frozen, but according to my go-to website, wholesomebabyfood.com, that's totally fine.
I baked everything but the green beans (boiled those), and ran them through the food processor with a little water. Then I divided the purees into icecube trays and froze. Super easy. I will definitely be making his food for a while.

While I was trying to get everything made Mason decided to fuss so I stuck him in our new baby wrap (more on my babywearing tomorrow!) to finish cooking, and I couldn't help thinking , "Wow. Who would have thought I'd be such a hippie?! Babywearing while I make my own baby-food!" Next thing you know, I'll be cloth-diapering too!!
